From being accosted in a rooftop by Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) in the pilot to making pills-laden coats on the most recent episode of Gossip Girl, Jenny Humphrey didn’t fit in, says Taylor Momsen, who plays her on the series. And it’s this desire to be accepted” that’s been her “constant struggle” since day one.
“She has money now, but she still never really fits in,” she tells Parade.com prior to Gossip Girl’s March 8 return. “That’s been the constant struggle for her since day one, looking to be accepted. But whether she’s the bitchy mean girl or the nice girl from Brooklyn, she still never fully finds herself.”
There is a look out there right now that young teenage girls are embracing in their hordes — and it’s got nothing to do with pretty. So stop thinking pink and start thinking punk. Because for teens in the Teenies, nothing carries quite so much cachet as the latest version of the cool-girl grunge look: luxe goth, if you like.
The poster girl for this is Taylor Momsen. She may not be able to legally drink, but the 16-year-old is already a lead in one of the most popular television series of the moment (as Jenny Humphrey, in Gossip Girl); has a modelling contract with IMG (here she is the latest face of the high-street chain New Look); and is lead singer and songwriter in the band the Pretty Reckless. All of which, together with her platinum locks, endless skinny legs, “whateva” attitude, and a look she describes as “grunge meets Chanel”, have made her the girl all teenagers want to be and their mothers dread.
Taylor Momsen has revealed that she would love to have shorter legs.
The Gossip Girl star complained that her long limbs just make her clumsy, WENN reports.
“My legs are really long and that’s cool apparently, but I’m totally klutzy,” she explained. “I mean, I’m like Bambi. I fall all over myself because I can’t control my arms and my really long legs.”
